As part of my second year subject Tour Guiding and Ecotourism Management, I had the chance to visit the famous Underground River. Our journey began early at 5am, when the whole 2nd year assembled outside the university to start our adventure together. We traveled for about an hour to reach the Sabang Wharf, the gateway to our destination. Upon arrival at the wharf, we bought our tickets and spent some time taking pictures of the stunning view. The area was beautiful, with lush greenery and calm waters. After securing our tickets, we boarded our boat. Along with me were the boat drivers and my classmates Floresa, Prince, Kevin, and Tine.
The boat ride took us to the entrance of the cave. Before we went inside, we gathered for a group photo with our whole block which is the block 3. Afterward, we walked a short distance to the cave entrance. The anticipation grew as we finally arrived at the cave's mouth. Inside, the cave was breathtaking. We put on our helmets and life vests and boarded another boat for the cave tour. Our guide was not only informative but also quite funny, making the experience memorable. As we glided through the cave, we saw numerous bats hanging from the ceilings and impressive rock formations like stalagmites. The guide warned us not to touch the water because it was contaminated with bat droppings. The cave was very dark, and we could only see the rock formations when the guideās flashlight illuminated them. The boat ride inside the cave lasted about half an hour, and every moment was filled with amazement and wonder at the natural beauty around us.
This trip to the Underground River was a fantastic experience that I will always remember. The mix of natural wonders and shared laughter with friends made it a special part of my college life.
